PAST EVENTS
Below you will find information about events that have
already occurred in previous years. The HCE PTA is always planning new
events and here you can see what we have already done.
Father-Daugher Dance 2009-2010
The Father-Daughter Committee would like to thank everyone who helped
with the Winter Wonderland Dance. It was wonderful!
Sip & Sob: August 2008
The Welcoming Committee would like to thank everyone
who made Sip & Sob such a great success. Kindergarten parents were
invited for coffee, muffins and conversation. Friendly faces helped to
stave off the first day of school blues.
“Strike Up Some Fun”: 2007-2008 Mother-Son Event
Over 373 Moms & Sons came out to “Strike Up Some
Fun”
The Family Focus Committee would like to extend a
special thank you to the following:
- NORTHCROSS Lanes at the Lake for hosting this fun
bowling outing for us. They put together special pricing so that we
could enjoy great bowling, food and fun at the arcade. Also, they
provided (3) wonderful prizes for the drawing—(2) $50 Family bowling
packages and (1) gift certificate for a birthday party at the bowling
alley.
- Our wonderful volunteers who helped with check-in
and t-shirt distribution.
- Harris Teeter at Highland Creek for donation of 60
paper bags for sorting & distribution of t-shirts, etc.
Used Book Sale 2007-2008
Thanks to everyone that donated books to the Used
Book Sale and shopped at the Sale! We collected over 4000 books,
videos, DVDs, and CDs. Your children will all benefit, as the proceeds
will go to the HCE Literacy Department to purchase books for novel
studies, leveled readers, etc. Unsold books will be donated to
Nathaniel Alexander Elementary School (our SchoolMates partner) and
Charlotte Reads.
Many thanks go out to the volunteers who helped collect, sort, and sell
the multitudes of books!
Fall 2007 Book Fair
The Fall 2007 Book Fair was Monday, October 15th through
October 19th. We are passionate about reading and hope you and your
family enjoyed the book fair.
The Book Fair Committee would like to thank all the
volunteers, parents, students and staff for making our Fall Book Fair
such a great success. We could not have done it without you! Over
$18,000 in books were sold during our book fair week!! As a "Thank You"
to the students and their families, we will be having our second
Buy-One-Get-One free book fair in the Spring. We look forward to seeing
you then!
Family Night at the Book Fair was held on October 15,
2007 from 5:30 - 8:00 PM. The HCE PTA sponsored dinner in the cafeteria
and all families of HCE were invited. We served pizza, drinks and ice
cream bar with lots of toppings.
The Family Focus Committee would like to thank all of
our Volunteers, Parents, Staff and Administration for making the Family
Night at the Book Fair a success. We’d also like to thank the following:
- Kindergarteners, 1st Graders & 3rd Graders for
making such lovely and creative table cloths for the dinner.
- Hawthorne’s Pizza for working to provide hot and
delicious pizza for the evening. They prepared over a 160 pizzas for us.
- University City Library—Ms. Emily & Mr. Jim for
the great storytelling & songs for the kids.
GOLF FOR THE GOLD (& BLUE) 2007
Monday, October 22, 2007 was our First Annual “Golf
for the Gold (& Blue)” at the Highland Creek Golf Club, and
everyone in attendance had a great time!! With more than 80 golfers, we
took to the course at 10:00am, and finished 100+ strong (golfers,
volunteers & students) in the clubhouse with an awesome Awards
Reception. All the raffle prizes and golfer gifts, however, were
overshadowed by the fact that Ron Staskel nearly sank his $1,000,000
shot!! Only 27” away!!! Maybe next year!
The PTA would like to thank everyone who
supported this event!! Without the sponsors & volunteers, this
event would not have been the success it was. We would especially like
to thank our Community Sponsors!! Because of them, we are please to
announce that the PTA has met its budget for 2007-2008, and we will not
have to host a second fundraiser in the spring! So be sure to thank a
sponsor!!
