PTA MEETING

Please Join us at the Annual PTA General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, May 6th, 6:30 pm in the gym

We will be electing the 2008-2010 officers, and the HCE Chorus will perform.

Teacher Appreciation Week

The PTA will be hosting a Staff Appreciation Luncheon for the HCE staff on Thursday, May 8. Head Room Parents will coordinate classroom coverage so that the teachers may enjoy their special meal. Please let your HRP know if you can help.

Used Book Sale

Clean out your bookshelves and support our school. Starting May 9th, PTA will be collecting books for our first Used Book Sale on May 27-30th.

All proceeds from this sale will be used to purchase books for novel studies. Unsold books will be donated to Charlotte Reads. Learn more about this book sale and how you can help.

Spring Jam

A post-EOG Celebration for 3rd - 5th graders on May 23th from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Cost is $5 and includes pizza, drink, cookie and DJ entertainment. Hope to see you there!

Mother-Son Event

"Let’s Strike Up Some Fun” at our annual Mother Son Event set for Thursday, May 15th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at NORTHCROSS LANES AT THE LAKE. The Family Focus Committee is working hard to plan a great night for all HCE Moms and Sons. Use this form to confirm your participation.

Camp Invention

Camp Invention returns to Highland Creek Elementary this summer. The program will run Monday, June 23rd - Friday June 27th from 9:00-3:30. The Camp Invention program is the premier educational outreach program of Invent Now Kids, a subsidiary of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Register your child online at www.campinvention.org. Various discount offers are available through this online registration. Mae Rice, one of our kindergarten teachers, will be the director again this year. Contact her at m.rice@cms.k12.nc.us if you have any questions. A table will be set up at the PTA meeting March 4th with pictures from last year's camp. Plan to stop by and see all the wonderful things that happen during this wonderful week of learning.

Odyssey of the Mind

• Work on Problem Solving and Team Building Competition Teams. Now forming for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
• Meeting Tuesday mornings at 8:00 AM - Afternoon meetings coming soon.
• Next meeting - January 16, in Mrs. Gupton's Learning Cottage (MC 624).
• Parents must attend initially 2 mornings per month - Siblings welcome.
